TASKS

Young Knights and Maids of Errantry shall seek out those in need, in union with their oath of errantry. They shall seek to help without being thanked or noticed. Their sole objective is to be of assistance and their sole reward the knowledge that they have helped another.

Young Knights and Maids may like to learn about the spiritual and corporal works of mercy. Medieval knights did good in all of these categories. How might Young Knights and Maids of Errantry today act in mercy toward others?

Spiritual Works of Mercy

The Spiritual Works of Mercy refer to actions done to assist the spirit or soul of another human being. The Spiritual Works of Mercy are:

Comfort the afflicted
Pray for the living and the dead

The Corporal Works of Mercy

The Corporal Works of Mercy refer to actions that help a person's health or physical body. The Corporal Works of Mercy are:

Feed the hungry
Give drink to the thirsty
Clothe the naked
Shelter the homeless
Visit the sick and imprisoned
Ransom the captive
Bury the dead

I WILL SERVE

Lord, I will serve as a True and Chivalric Knight. By the power of Your Grace, I will defend the right to life for all people, born and unborn, help and protect the innocent who are violated, abused, and neglected, aid those in distress and despair, and comfort the afflicted.
